ZARGES, one of Europe’s leading providers of cases for the transportation of hazardous goods, is proud to be working with Search and Rescue Assistance In Disasters (SARAID) to help them purchase a range of transportation boxes to support its vital aid work in Turkey.

In the wake of a recent 7.8M earthquake and consecutive aftershocks which hit parts of Turkey and Syria on February 6th 2023, a team of trained SARAID workers were deployed to Turkey to help provide immediate humanitarian support.

ZARGES cases are being used to store key equipment used in SARAID’s disaster response work, providing a secure and durable means of transporting goods and search and rescue resources to locations across the world to affected regions.

The SARAID team, which consists of USAR specialists, coordinators, structural engineers and paramedics, will be working with local governing officials on the ground to provide assistance; which includes Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and/or Damage Assessment, and supporting the USAR Coordination cell (UCC) responsible for the coordination between the international USAR teams and operations and local authorities.

The earthquake, which is one the most severe the region has ever seen, has so far displaced millions of people and caused more than an estimated $84bn worth of property damage across the region.

Thanks to their lightweight yet highly durable design, ZARGES cases have proven to be the ideal solution for SARAID when transporting products to locations which may have damaged transport links or are otherwise difficult to reach. Manufactured in aluminium, ZARGES cases offer a reliable and efficient means of storage and transportation and feature a self-locking lid for ultimate security.

Sarah Pickup, Equipment Manager at SARAID, said: “SARAID’s partnership with ZARGES has played a hugely important role in helping us get our search and rescue equipment to the worst affected area in Turkey.”

“In areas which have been seriously impacted by the earthquake, transport links are often damaged or entirely severed, which means that bringing in aid can be very challenging. The durability of ZARGES casing, as well as their ease of use and lightweight design, eliminates one challenge in a logistically difficult situation, and gives us peace of mind that our equipment will be kept safe in transit and will arrive undamaged, ready to use – and enable us carry out our vital work as soon as possible.”

Neil Harper, Sales Manager at ZARGES UK, added: “There is no doubt that SARAID’s work across the region of Turkey is vital in both providing immediate support to those affected by the earthquake, and helping the country rebuild following the aftermath. ZARGES is proud to be working with an organisation carrying out such essential work both in Turkey and around the world, and is honoured to have played a small part in the relief efforts.”
