Motor and drive manufacturer, WEG has won the supplier of the year award at the British Pump Manufacturers’ Association (BPMA) Pump Industry Awards. On March 16, WEG and five other finalists were judged on criteria including technical innovation, environmental awareness and customer service by a panel of industry leaders and independent experts with additional votes from readers of online industry media.

The BPMA Pump Industry Awards programme celebrates the achievements of companies and individuals who demonstrate a commitment to exceptional service in the pump and pump service industries. As a global manufacturer of motors, drives and other equipment for pumping applications, with a branch in the UK, WEG’s award win reinforces its position as a leading national supplier.

“Providing good customer service is part of our ethos,” said Marek Lukaszczyk, Europe and Middle East marketing manager at WEG. “Among WEG’s recent projects in this sector is the Ashford Common Water Treatment Works — the largest facility of its type in Europe. For the project, WEG installed two new seven and a half ton motors at the facility. The replacement of two more motors is planned for 2023 and 2024.

“In addition to exceptional service, the award from the BPMA also recognises the technical innovation we have delivered in the last year. This includes the launch of several new technologies for the water and waste water industry and specific digital tools for pumping applications,” added Lukaszczyk

Among WEG’s pump technologies is Pump Genius, an intelligent software tool for managing drives in pumping applications. Available in three versions — Simplex, Multiplex and Multipump — Pump Genius enables complete control over one, two or multiple pumps using just one inverter. This ensures operators can maintain accurate pressure and flow control throughout processing cycles, minimising downtime and improving energy efficiency.

Last year, WEG also launched Motion Fleet Management (MFM) to the UK market. The digital solution enables remote monitoring of assets, including motors, drives and pumps and uses cloud technology to monitor the operational performance of assets across a wide geographical scope.
