It seems fitting that the Shingo Institute, the ultimate advocate of process improvement, has decided to hold this year’s European conference in Manchester, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and the world’s first fully mechanised production process but, moreover, the home of the suffrage equality movement.
Lisa Riley, Executive Director at The Manufacturing Institute, says, “What is impressive to see and will be even more exciting to hear is the noticeable lineup of experienced female keynote speakers!”
Ken Snyder, Executive Director of the Shingo Institute, will introduce a noticeably female roster of inspirational presenters, including global transformation expert Arlette Halavage on Cultivating Culture. Supply Chain Sustainability champion Rose Heathcote, and Miriam Byrne who is talking about Shaping Future Leadership and Digital Transformation.
Also presenting are Katie Holyoak, who has inspiring insights on CI Transformation, and Helen Zak on Managing Below the Waterline, alongside Juliana Salvadorinho and Peter Hines who are all diving into the fundamentals of Exemplary Shingo Leadership. Caroline Greelee, co-author of ‘Why Care?’, explores how mental well-being and a continuous improvement culture are mutually reinforcing.
“So good to see all these great women in manufacturing speaking at the conference,” says Lisa, who is looking forward to being part of a Shingo focus group on Women Leaders in Continuous Improvement!
The incredible Chris Butterworth will also be speaking, as well as Noel Hennesy articulating how to Get the Best, Rather than the Most out of Employees, and John Bicheno talking about Muda, Muri, Mura and The Human Dimension.
The Shingo Model and Guiding Principles provide an essential tool that supports the evolution of more inclusive and equitable workplaces because it helps companies take meaningful action around culture and guarantee commitment from the top.
Finally, look out for Ian Munday RS Group and Fabrice Bernhard, co-author of the Lean Tech Manifesto. The inimitable Peter Hines explains the true meaning of the Shingo Model. Daniel Picado, Global Operations at Bourns and the impact of AI. John Blacklock and James O’Sullivan from Hologic sharing insights on their Shingo journey, or as they call it, the aptly named Mancunian Way!
