Energy and Transportation expert Finning UK & Ireland has provided a complete power solution to Fairline Yachts’ newest and biggest marine pleasure craft – the Phantom 65 – winner of a World Yacht Trophy in 2022.

The Phantom 65 is an elegant addition to Fairline’s range, and is the first vessel that Finning, exclusive dealer of Cat engines in the UK and Ireland, has provided with a turnkey power solution, supplying both engine and electrical power, and includes the installation of the latest Cat MPC 100 propulsion control system.

Miles Moorhouse, head of marketing at Fairline, said: “The design team at Fairline have worked incredibly hard perfecting the Phantom 65, our first sport bridge yacht, which is based on the award-winning Targa 65 featuring sleek lines, a luxury interior, and great handling and performance.

“Thanks to our partnership with Finning the yacht features two engine options – twin Cat C18 1150s with a 31-knot performance, or twin V12 Cat C32 1622’s which offer even greater power and speed enabling the craft to reach 37 knots.

“The skilled support our team received from the engineers at Finning has meant the integration of all three Cat products has been seamless and has been critical to the performance of this new type of craft.”

Finning has designed, delivered and installed 23 engines to Fairline throughout 2022, with another 45 on order already for next year.

Marine new equipment sales manager Paul Youe said: “We have sold engines to Fairline for many years, but in the instance it’s the first time where we’ve provided a complete power solution with a Cat 2.2 20kw generator also providing electrical power on board the vessel.

“Our engineering team overcame the challenge of providing the necessary power capacity within a tight installation space, but thanks to the flexibility of Cat engines they were able to keep to the footprint needed and create the bespoke wire looms which integrate the whole power system. It’s also possible for Fairline to change the generator spec easily from European to American with just minor adjustments.

“A strong UK supply chain meant we were able to source all the Cat components needed to meet the power requirements of the Phantom 65 and deliver everything within 26 weeks. We’re also able to hold stock for this customer now, so we can respond quickly to any customer orders.”

Finning offers a range of Cat propulsion solutions, auxiliary engines and packaged generator sets that provide high-performing, reliable power for yacht and motorboat owners. This includes a range of on-board power generation solutions including off-the-shelf and packaged generator sets and auxiliary engines.
