ERIKS in the UK & Ireland, part of ERIKS Group, the worldwide specialised industrial services provider has secured yet another significant contract built on supply chain innovation and technical capability. This multi-million pound agreement has been awarded by Babcock International for the supply of fluid power materials and services across all their primary marine locations in the UK and is for a period of five years.
Babcock is an international aerospace, defence and security company, with a leading naval business, providing value add services across a range of countries. It helps customers in the UK and around the world to improve the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets. The company has an efficient and highly effective supply chain, which in turn, requires trusted and collaborative suppliers that enable delivery of ultra-reliable service to its customers.
“This is where we step in”, explains ERIKS’?CEO for the UK and Ireland, David Gillies. “We have worked with Babcock since 1994. Over the years we’ve built a strong relationship based on the quality of our service and, in particular, our provision of specialist engineering and technical support.
“We have been involved in a wide variety of exciting projects that have included the refit of submarines, refurbishment of a high voltage transformer for a submarine facility and contributions to the covid ventilator programme. In addition to this latest news, earlier this year, we also announced that Babcock had awarded a significant contract to ERIKS for the supply of valves and associated equipment for the new Type 31 frigates.”
“This new contract win significantly expands our relationship with Babcock, becoming its supplier for the category of ‘Fluid Power Materials and Services’. It is yet another significant win brought about by our continued focus on providing a highly efficient MRO supply chain, supported by industry leading technical teams to reinforce our position as partner of choice. It also reflects both the amazing work that our teams have carried out for Babcock over the years.”
To manage the contract, ERIKS has brought together a highly qualified team of engineering, procurement and technical specialists in a central location to drive efficiency across all facilities. The company will also ensure support locally through regional centres as well as through staff working directly with Babcock’s engineering and supply chain teams around the UK.
Darren Cribb, Babcock’s Head of Strategic Procurement & Category Management, based at Devonport Royal Dockyard, said: “We are pleased to continue working with ERIKS to build on the positive foundations we’ve already established from working on previous contracts. Moving forward we will focus on innovation in working practices, to provide the best possible quality services and products to our end customer.”
